We are always torn on July 3, should we attend the Neola chicken BBQ and the kids rodeo or go to the Disco Drippers? Last year, we went to the Neola BBQ, then I went home to put my feet up (I delivered Wilson 5 days later) while Geoff took the boys to the kids rodeo. They came home with two chickens and a rabbit.
This concert is always so fun, and FREE. Did I mention free? Yes, I said free. Parking is even free. And, you get to ride the cabriolet from the parking lot up to the concert venue, free. That is the kids favorite part. The fireworks after the concert are spectacular, they're free too.
It is so packed with people having fun. The blacktop is transformed into a blanket covered party zone. You can't even walk through the blankets without stepping on them they are so closely packed together. So you just walk on everyone's blanket and no one cares.

We spent the evening eating multi-grain pizza from Whole Foods,

people watching, and dancing our heinies off. Too much fun! Wilson loved the whole experience and so many people came over to play with him because he was being extra cute dancing to the music. Luckily, those same people didn't ride home with us when Wilson cried nonstop from the Starvation bridge right up to our door. Poor thing. It was 1:30 a.m. when we finally got home. What kind of parents keep their kids out until such an hour. We do, once every other year.
